How to Change Download folder location Chrome, Firefox, etc

For this tutorial I will show you how to change the download folder locations of different internet browsers. These browsers includes the following:

• Google Chrome
• Firefox
• Safari
• Edge
• Opera
• Brave
• Vivaldi

So without further ado, let's start.

Here are the steps on how to change download folder location of different and most used popular web browsers

Google Chrome

PC:

1. Open your Google Chrome. Click on the 3 dots located near the upper-right corner of your pc screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, click on Settings.

3. Inside Settings, find and press Downloads.

4. Inside Downloads, in the Location, click the Change button.

5. Select the new folder location that you want for your future downloads.

6. Done! Chrome's download location is now set to a new folder.

Android phone:

Note: To be able to change download folder location on android, your phone should have SD card.

1. Open Chrome app. Tap on 3 dots located near the upper-right corner of your phone screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, press Settings.

3. Inside Settings, press Downloads.

4. Inside Downloads, tap on Download location.

5. In the Download location, you will see that the current selected location is the default Download folder of your android phone which is also found in your phone's internal storage.

6. Now, select SD card. Press Done to confirm.

7. You will then see that the folder download location path is now changed to SD card.

Firefox

PC:

1. Open your Firefox browser. Click on the 3 horizontal lines located near the upper-right corner of your pc.

2. In the menu that will appear, click on Settings.

3. Inside Settings, Find Files and Applications. Below it you will see Downloads, click Browse.

4. Select the new folder download location. For this tutorial, I am selecting my Desktop.

5. And the new download location is now selected for your Firefox future downloads.

Android phone:

I downloaded and installed Firefox app but wasn't able to see options to change its default folder download location.

Safari

PC:

1. Open your Safari browser. Find and click on the Gear icon located near the upper-right corner of your pc.

2. In the menu that will appear, click on Preferences.

3. Under General tab, find "Save downloaded files to". Click the inverted caret to see options.

4. In the choices will appear, select Other.

5. Select the new desired folder download location.

6. Done! Download location changed.

Edge

PC:

1. Open your Edge browser. Click on the 3 dots located near the upper-right corner of your pc.

2. In the menu that will appear, click on Settings.

3. Under Settings, click Downloads.

4. Inside Downloads, click Change.

5. Select the new desired download location.

6. And you just successfully changed your default Edge download folder location.

Android phone:

Note: To be able to change download folder location on android, your phone should have SD card.

1. There is no option for you to change default download location of Edge app in its Settings. But, you can still change the path. To do so, open your Edge app. Search for the image, file, etc that you want to download.

2. For this tutorial, I will be downloading an image on Edge. Long-press the image.

3. In the menu that will appear, tap on Download image.

4. You will be allowed to choose where to download your file. The currently selected download location folder is the Phone Storage (default for all android phones). Press on Phone Storage to change it.

5. Change Phone Storage to SD card. Uncheck the "don't show this again" so that you will be able to change your download location again in the future. Press Download to start your download.

Opera

PC:

1. Open your Opera browser. Find and click on the menu icon located near the upper-right corner of your pc screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, click on Go to full browser settings.

3. Scroll down until to reach the end of the page. Click on Advanced.

4. Find Downloads section. Under location, click Change.

5. Browse for the new location that you want for your Opera downloads.

6. And you just change your folder download location for your Opera internet browser.

Android phone: Create New Folder

1. Open your Opera app. Press on Profile icon located at the lower-right corner of your phone screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, press the Gear icon (Settings).

3. Inside Settings, find Download folders. Below it you will see the default download path for your Opera downloads. Tap on it.

4. Now, press on Create New folder icon (see image below).

5. Name your folder and click OK to proceed.

6. Now, press "Use this folder".

7. In the Allow Opera to access files in "Your New Folder" , click on Allow.

8. Done, the new folder is now the default download location for your future Opera downloads.

Android phone: SD Card (make sure you have inserted SD card to be able to do this step)

1. Now, if you want your SD card as the default download location. Repeat some of the steps above. Instead of creating a New Folder, press on the 3 horizontal lines located at the upper-left corner of your screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, press SD card.

3. When inside your SD card, just tap on "Use this folder" to proceed.

4. Allow Opera app to save future downloads to SD card.

5. Done! You just selected your SD card as the default download location for your Opera app instead of your internal storage.

Brave

PC:

1. Open your Brave browser. Click on the 3 horizontal lines located near the upper-right corner of your screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, click on Settings.

3. Inside Settings, click on Downloads.

4. Inside Downloads, below location click on Change.

5. Select the new desired location for all your future Brave downloads.

6. Done! Brave default download location is changed.

Android phone:

Note: To be able to change download folder location on android, your phone should have SD card.

1. Open your Brave app. Press on 3 dots located near the lower-right corner of your screen.

2. In the menu that will appear, press on Settings.

3. Inside Settings, find and press Downloads.

4. Inside Downloads, tap on Download location path.

5. Inside Download location, by default Downloads folder of phone internal storage is selected.

6. Select SD card and press Done to confirm changes.

7. Done! Brave app download locations successfully changed.

Vivaldi

PC:

1. Open your Vivaldi internet browser. Click the Gear icon located near the lower-left corner of your pc screen.

2. Inside Settings, find and click on Downloads.

3. Inside Vivaldi download settings, press the Select Folder under Download location.

4. Browse for the desired new download folder location.

5. Done! You successfully changed Vivaldi download path.

Android phone:

Note: To be able to change download folder location on android, your phone should have SD card.

1. Open your Vivaldi app. Press on the Vivaldi icon (see image below) to access menu.

2. In the menu that will appear, tap on Settings.

3. Under Settings, scroll down until you find Downloads. Tap on it.

4. Inside Downloads, press the download location to change it.

5. The default download location is also the Downloads folder of your phone storage.

6. Select SD card and press Done to confirm changing of download folder.

7. And Vivaldi app download location is now set to SD card.
