How to limit download/upload speed of Globe at Home

For this post I will show you how to setup both the download and upload speed limit on all the mobile phone and other devices connected in your Globe at Home Prepaid Wi-Fi. You wanna do this to control the distribution of your internet speed in different devices connected in your Wi-Fi.

Some users are heavy-internet users (heavy downloaders, movie watchers, etc.), while some are only fan of browsing light web pages. So, you wanna give those users allocated download and upload speeds so that you, as the main user of the internet that you are distributing can still enjoy fast internet connection even though they are also using your internet.

It is also very important if you are only using allocated data and not unlimited internet. You will definitely going to save lots of data and of course, money. So, without further ado, let's start.

Here are the steps on how to setup download and upload speed limit on devices connected on your Globe at Home Prepaid Wi-Fi except you

1. On your android open Chrome app. On your pc open Google Chrome. In the address bar type 192.168.254.254 and press ENTER.

2. Find and press Log in. It is located near the upper-right corner of your screen.

3. Enter user as username and @l03e1t3 (that's @, small letter L, zero, 3, number 1, small T and 3). Press Login button to proceed.

4. Inside, find and press Device Settings. And then inside Device Settings click Connected Devices.

5. Under Wireless Access Device, you will there the list of all the connected mobile, tablet, etc. connected on your Globe at Home. Get the IP address of the device that you want to setup the download and upload speed limit.

6. Now, click Firewall.

7. Inside Firewall, click on Rate Limiting.

8. From Disabled, select Enabled to enable options.

9. Under Rate Limiting Settings do the following:

• IP address: paste here the IP address that you copied on the step above
• Download Speed: input the download speed limit that you want
• Upload Speed: input the upload speed limit that you want
• Comment: Name your limiter

When done, click the Apply button to save your setup.

10. You will then see all the devices that you just setup download and upload speed limits.

Testing the download speed of device included on the list of Globe at Home limiting rules

1. Using fast.com, internet speed is only 460kbps when the download speed is set to 200kbps.

Removing a device included on the list of Globe at Home limiting rules

1. Just check the device that you want to remove and then press the Delete button.

2. Press Yes to confirm deletion. Done!

Re-testing the download speed of device not included on the list of Globe at Home limiting rules

1. Using fast.com again, the download speed is now 42mpbs.

It is important that you know your own android phone IP address because you might include it by mistake on the list of Globe at Home limiting rules

1. Just tap on your android Settings. Inside Settings tap on "My Phone".

2. Inside "My Phone", scroll down a bit to find IP address.
