How to install Mambo CMS in XAMPP Windows 11
Even though Mambo CMS was already done when it comes to development, personally, I think this content management system is a great one. It was developed by Mambo Foundation Inc. and its final released was on June 26, 2008. And for this tutorial, we are going to create a free website out of it. But first, you need to download the XAMPP file and Mambo installers below. I also provided the link for your convenience.

Here are the steps on how to install Mambo CMS in XAMPP using your Windows pc
XAMPP Installation
1. Open the XAMPP file that you downloaded. In the Installer Language select English. Press OK to proceed.

2. Under the XAMPP installation welcome page, press NEXT to proceed.

3. In the Choose Install Location, just leave as it is and press NEXT to proceed.

4. In the XAMPP Options, uncheck everything and press INSTALL to start XAMPP installation.

5. Wait for the installation to finish.

6. When done, click on Finish to exit the installer.

Running XAMPP Control Panel
1. To run XAMPP, you can click on its shortcut in your desktop or go to Start and search "xampp" and then press ENTER. Inside XAMPP Control Panel, click the Start buttons for Apache and MySQL.

2. You will see "Running" notification on both Apache and MySQL afterwards.

Copy and pasting Mambo installation folder to XAMPP's htdocs
1. Now, back to the Mambo zip file that you also downloaded. Extract it and rename the extracted folder as "mambo". Make sure that all the contents of your mambo folder are not inside a sub-folder. When done, copy your mambo folder and go to This PC.

2. Open C drive.

3. Inside C drive, open xampp folder.

4. Then open htdocs folder.

5. Paste your mambo folder inside htdocs.

Creating database for Mambo installation using XAMPP's phpMyAdmin
1. We need to create a database for our Mambo installation. To create one, open your web browser and go to 127.0.0.1 and press ENTER. In the select language, click on English.

2. Inside XAMPP, under Tools, click on phpMyAdmin.

3. In the Create new database, name it as "mambo_db" for this tutorial. Next to it, change the value to utf8_unicode_ci and press Create.

4. In the Create new table, name your table as mambo_table and set the Number of fields to 4. Press Go to proceed.

5. Name your Field as mambo and set the Type to INT.

6. For Collation, set it to utf8_unicode_ci and leave all the other fields blank.

7. Save your database and table.

8. You will a notification saying: "Table 'mambo_db'.'mambo_table' has been created."

Installing Mambo website via XAMPP's localhost using web browser
1. We are now ready to install our Mambo website. Open your web browser and go to 127.0.0.1/mambo and press ENTER.

2. In the Pre-installation check, just press NEXT to proceed.

3. Under License, just check the "I understand..." and press NEXT again to proceed.

4. In the MySQL database configuration do the following: Host Name - localhost, MySQL User Name - root, MySQL Password - blank or none, MySQL Database Name - mambo_db. Make sure the "Install sample data" is also checked. When done, click NEXT to proceed.

5. Localhost (127.0.0.1) will ask if the settings you have made on STEP 5 are correct, just press OK to proceed.

6. Under "Enter the name of your Mambo site" just name your website and press NEXT to continue.

7. In the "Confirm the site URL, path, admin email and file/directory chmods" do the following: Your E-mail - type a valid email. For Admin password - input your desired password and do not forget it. For Permission, just leave it as it is and press NEXT to proceed.

8. And you have successfully created your Mambo website. Continue to STEP 9.

9. As you can see on the image below, you need to remove the "installation" folder inside your mambo folder in the htdocs directory. You will also see your admin username and password. Do not forget these two.

10. To delete the "installation" folder, go to This PC > C drive > xampp > htdocs > mambo > find and installation folder and delete it.

Accessing Mambo website homepage
1. To access your Mambo website homepage, just go to 127.0.0.1/mambo or localhost/mambo.

Accessing Mambo website admin login page
1. To access your Mambo website admin login page, just go to 127.0.0.1/mambo/administrator.

2. To open your admin account, type your username and password and press Login.

3. Inside your administration page, you will see there the settings for Site, Menu and also Content, Components, Modules, etc. You can modify all of these to improve your Mambo website. And only can access this page as the owner of your website.
