How to install PivotX in XAMPP Windows 11
PivotX is a another free content management system that you can use to build or create blogs. It was first developed in 2001 under the name Pivot. Its last stable released was on June 21, 2015 which is the PivotX 2.3.11 but in 2017 it was announced that it's no longer actively developed. For this tutorial, we are going to create a weblog out of it. The first thing that you are required to do is download the files that I already provided the link below.
Requirements:
- xampp-windows-x64-5.6.40-1-VC11-installer [download here]
- pivotx_2.3.11 [download here]

Here are the steps on how to install PivotX website using XAMPP in Windows pc
XAMPP Installation
1. Open the XAMPP file that you downloaded. If a Warning regarding User Account Control (UAC) appears, just ignore it and press OK.

2. Under Setup - XAMPP, just press NEXT to proceed.

3. Under Select Components, do not change anything, just press NEXT again to proceed.

4. In the Installation folder, do not change the default location which is C:\xampp. Just leave it and press NEXT to continue.

5. Under Bitnami for XAMPP, just uncheck it and press NEXT again.

6. We are now ready to install XAMPP. Press NEXT again to start.

7. Wait for the installation to finish.

8. When done, click on Finish to exit XAMPP installer.

Opening XAMPP and running Apache and MySQL
1. To run XAMPP Control Panel, you can go to Start and search for xampp. You can also go to This PC > C drive > xampp > and then click xampp-control.exe. Inside control panel, click the Start buttons for Apache and MySQL.

2. Apache and MySQL are both running now, when you see two Stop buttons.

3. If a Windows Security Alert appears, just press Allow access to proceed.

Copying and pasting PivotX installation folder inside htdocs
1. Extract the pivotX zip file that you downloaded. Rename the extracted folder as pivotx for this tutorial. Copy the pivotx folder and go to This PC.

2. Inside This PC, open your C drive.

3. Inside C, open xampp folder.

4. Then open htdocs folder.

5. Paste your pivotx folder inside htdocs.

Creating a database needed for PivotX installation
1. To create a database needed for PivotX installation, open your web browser and go to 127.0.0.1 and press ENTER.

2. Inside, click the phpMyAdmin link.

3. Then inside phpMyAdmin, click Databases.

4. In the Create database, name it as pivotx_db and next to it set it to utf8mb4_unicode_ci. Press Create to proceed.

5. In Create table, name your table as pivotx_table and set the Number of columns to 4. Press Go to proceed.

6. In structure, name it as pivotx and set Type to INT.

7. Under Collation, set it to utf8_unicode_ci and leave all the other fields blank.

8. Save your work.

Installing PivotX website using localhost via web browser
1. We are now ready to install our pivotX website. Open your web browser and go to 127.0.0.1/pivotx and press ENTER.

2. Under Setup user do the following: Username - admin. Password - your desired admin password (confirm it and do not forget it). Email - enter a valid email address. Nickname - Administrator. Default Language - English. Database Model - MySQL. Username - root. Password - blank or none. Database name - pivotx_db. Hostname - localhost. Table Prefix - pivotx_. When done, press Continue to proceed.

3. Done! You just added a user and created your pivotX website already.

Opening PivotX website homepage
1. To open your pivotX website homepage, just go to 127.0.0.1/pivotx or localhost/pivotx.

Accessing PivotX website admin page
1. To access your pivotx website admin login page, just go to 127.0.0.1/pivotx/pivotx/index.php?page=login.

2. Enter your username and password. Press Login to proceed.

3. Here is the sample pivotX website administration page which is only accessible to you as owner and administrator of your website.

You have successfully created a website blog out of PivotX CMS. You can start to posts and edit its settings using your admin account.
