Exponent CMS: site maintenance, database is currently offline

This site is currently down for maintenance. Database is currently Off-line!



I got this error while installing Exponent CMS using XAMPP in my Windows 11 pc. I was able to solve this one by just using a higher version of PHP.


Using PHP 5.6, firing the installation will just give me a HTTP 500 error.


Using PHP 7.3 and above fixed the problem and I was able to get to the Exponent CMS installation page. And do not run 127.0.0.1/exponent-cms-directory/ only but you must run 127.0.0.1/exponent-cms-directory/install/indexph.php.
